If you're running the CVS version, update to the latest and do the whole build/install:


     ./bootstrap.sh
     ./configure
     make && sudo make install && sudo chmod 4755 /usr/local/bin/xastir


All of the scripts in /usr/local/share/xastir/scripts/ should get set to executable.  Tom made the change yesterday to the sources.
