[Xastir] recommendation for Ultimeter-2000 software to stick on my linux digipeater using kernel AX.25

No.

I'm with Tom Hayward:  pull the ultimeter2000 decode functions out of Xastir,
and write a quick hack to produce a beacon string.  Then pass that string
to the "beacon" program to get it into AX.25 without mcuh coding.
