[Xastir] Xastir doesn't ack packets

Hello everyone.  I'm new to xastir but not to linux.  I've got 
everything setup and I can get xastir to tx a location packet.  But I've 
noticed that when my vehicle tx a location packet I don't hear my 
station acknowledge it.  My station is the only one around for 40 or 50 
kilometres and I can seen in the axlisten that the soundmodem heard the 
packet and xastir even gated it to the net.  Also it won't ack other 
digipeats that it gets.  I was running a Windows system with aprsce32 
and it was quite a bit more talkative then xastir seems to be.

I'm wondering if there is something I'm missing?
