I used git was very easy, followed readme.git for instructions and took 2-3 minutes to complete. CVS was nice but think GIT will be better and safer.

Applause for the developers again!!!

On Sun, Jul 10, 2016 at 09:15:27PM +0000, we recorded a bogon-computron collision of the <kd5mkv at hotmail.com> flavor, containing:
> I saw the new How to Git, I have been using the CVS for awhile. How do I update in the future. Do I remove xastir from my home directory and install the git clone. And use git pull to update in the future.

Move your old CVS checkout elsewhere (or delete it), then use a git clone
to get a new copy. After that, building is pretty much the same as before
(the cloned directory will be called Xastir instead of xastir, but otherwise
there's no difference). And to update, just "git pull" in the Xastir
directory instead of doing "cvs update"

For users (i.e. not developers), that should pretty much be the only
difference.
