[Xastir] Xastir Digest, Vol 529, Issue 1

If you first installed binary version ie apt-get install xastir. Your maps are in a different folder and you need to edit ~/.xastir/config/xastir.cnf and change AUTO_MAP_DIR:/usr/local/share/xastir/maps/ This is what it should display.

Subject: Re: [Xastir] Xastir Digest, Vol 529, Issue 1

I apologize for flooding everyone's inboxes, but something new I discovered
after I sent my last email:

When I run Xastir from the terminal, I have the issue as described above.

By chance, I was scrolling through the applications menu in the Xubuntu
options tab where all the programs are listed. In this tab, Xastir is
listed under the Internet tab, along with Firefox, other internet based
programs etc. When I opened it up this way, it started a new session of
Xastir, prompting me for the callsign and coordinates. When I started up
the OSM map, it works! Somehow I have two instances of Xastir on my
machine, and for whatever reason, when opening it from the tab in the start
menu, it works properly.

Why would I have two versions, and only able to open the good version from
the start menu icon? I am confused, but for now this works. The only
difference I can report is that when starting from the terminal, it prompts
me for my password. Perhaps it has something to do with having proper
privileges to render the .png images?
