That's for configuring the CVS version of GDAL.  I've only tried the
CVS version, but other versions of GDAL will probably work.

GDAL:
    ./configure;make;make install


You'll then need to start at the configure stage of Xastir so that
Xastir will pick up the GDAL library's presence.  CVS Xastir of
course.

Xastir:
    ./configure;make;make install
