Grumble.  I had the day off today, built xastir with --with-profiling on
cygnus, hosed it up to my BSD machine's xastir server port, and left it
running all day.  

And when I finally shut it down 8 hours later to gprof it told me the 
executable had no symbols (I guess -g wasn't inserted into cflags by default 
or something).  I'll try again some other time if nobody else gets to it, and
not wait so long before checking that profiling works.
