Unlike MacAPRS, xastir supplies source code.  Feel free to cruise
through the code to see all the black magic up close and personal.

Almost all of the Tiger goodness can be achieved offline.  Shapefiles
are your friends.  The README files tell you where to download the
files from and where to stick them as well as what libraries must be
installed to make them work.
