The Xastir bug list, open bug:  "Problem when LC_ALL=pt_BR".  This
exactly describes your problem.

Sometimes users can look through the open and/or closed bugs to find
similar bugs to what they are experiencing.  If they occur more
frequently they should be put into the FAQ as well.
