[Xastir] Imagemagick

I tried to compile xastir with IM support but get

checking for Magick-config... yes
checking magick/api.h usability... no
checking magick/api.h presence... no
checking for magick/api.h... no
configure: WARNING: *** Cannot find ImageMagick include files:  Building 
w/o ImageMagick support. ***


yet IM is installed with .h files in

/home/gshaw/Apps/ImageMagick/ImageMagick-6.2.0/include/magick

I have tried ti find the developer version of IM but only found src is 
that the right one? It wont install from the RPM, Mandrake 10.1
