If one were to use Xastir as some sort of pipe to get a bunch of
packets onto RF, I could imagine needing these sorts of things.

What the intended use is (as far as I know) is to do messaging
back-and-forth between remote and local RF users, and to pass
weather alerts through to RF (which can be quite critical in some
areas).

The intention was never to put a bunch of position or other packets
through to RF, in fact the majority of the Xastir igate activity
will always be from RF->INET.

If you have uses which are different than these, then we could
certainly (over time) do tweaks to accomodate them. You start by
adding such ideas to the RFE list (Feature Request list, or Request
For Enhancement list). That way the ideas are captured and not
forgotten.

At various times some of the developers or user-programmers might be
looking for ideas to implement and have a bit of extra time.
Getting your idea on that list and explained well is the first step
to getting it implemented, unless it's important enough to you to
code it up yourself and submit back to the developers.
