Scratch the previous message.  Just found out my ax25 was not sending out any 
tones as well.  I didn't realize it was doing this as the radio transmitted 
OK although no modulation.  From now on will have to listen to the channel to 
see what is really happening.

Only cure seemed to be rebooting computer to fix the ax25.  And it fixed the 
erratic nature of the Display dialog at the same time.

Sorry for the wild goose chase.
