As far as I'm concerned, yes.  It's easier to add things to the
config file than to the GUI.  If added to the GUI, most have to be
added to the config file saving/restoring as well anyway.  It's just
that the GUI is hard to deal with at present as it's all hand-coded.

Or create new GNIS files somehow?

I expect it won't be long until we get into Xastir-2 discussions
again, at which point we can start fighting over cool things like
which back-end database(s) to support, which widget sets to support,
etc.  Or we can all break into separate groups and duke these things
out in separate sessions.  Maybe I should do some searches over the
weekend, pull out some good previous discussions, and either repost
them or put them up on the web somewhere (a Wiki page or three
perhaps?) and we can start thinking about what we want in the
future.
