[Xastir] Local Info, repeaters and object.log

Hello,

I've been working on a sort of collaborative repeater database / mapping
project (k5ehx.net/repeaters). I was trying to come up with some form of
link into APRS, my first idea was a query service to return repeaters near
the origin of the query. Bob pointed me toward the "Local Info" initiative,
and so I've been trying to figure out a way to do that. It appears that
Xastir has a persistent object file format, and so I've made an exporter for
that format based on an example file.

My question is whether anyone has any pointers. My goal is some simple way
to get repeater information from my database into Xastir, preferably for
"not necessarily tech savvy" users.
