Subject: Improving APRS messaging via Xastir

XASTIR developers:

Xastir is one of the few actively maintained APRS clients.

I need your help to make progress in APRS, specifically in the
APRS-IS interface to RF.

Please consider adding Igate-message-feedback-reporting to your
Igate code. We need to improve the reliability of the APRS-IS
by knowing what Igates do with IS-to-RF messages. By having the
Igate send back a feedback-packet on each IS-to-RF packet that
it gates, then we can have a deterministic system, instead of
the TX-in-the-blind system we have now.

Please see the web page:
www.aprs.org/aprs12/Igate-path-report.txt

OH, and to see why this is so important, please see about the
Universal Ham Radio Text Messaging Initiative:
www.aprs.org/aprs-messaging.html

All of APRS will benefit if we make progress in this area...

This may not make it to the xastir-dev grouip, since I had
troubles getting signed up last time I remember...

Thanks
Bob, WB4APR
