Yes, cups is doing it.  Off to the drawing board.  Also I thought I had 
stopped avahi but I guess not.  I did a update-rc.d -f remove for sure.

Anyway I think I finally have it receiving. Thanks for all the help, 
everyone.

I'm sure I've seen this discussed but I'm not sure what to do.  What's
