Hi Tony,

I've been playing around with that binary under Mepis 8.5, but so far
I've been unable to duplicate the problem. As I recall, snaphots rely
on libxpm. The only thing I can think of at this time is to try
reinstalling the libxpm4 package. In synaptic, you can search for
libxpm4, mark it for reinstallation, and apply the change.

That binary is based on a CVS download from September 8, 2010. I
don't know if that will ring a bell with anyone regarding known
issues. What is curious about your experience is that snapshots
worked for a time, and then something changed, and that change is the
mystery.

My Mepis 8.5 was not up to date with respect to package upgrades when
I installed the binary, but it was not a brand new installation,
either. After I installed the binary, things worked OK, so then I did
a complete package upgrade via synaptic, and that didn't break
anything - still not seeing the snapshot issue.

I'll let you know if I find out anything further.
