Hi Geoff,

I looked into trying to get a Canadian WX server running about 5 years
ago, and started digging into trying to find out what format the raw
information from the weather service looks like. I asked again last
year, and still can't get an answer.

Perhaps you might be able to shed some light. you've given me a hint
already in that they are now using XML/RSS...

I've been in contact with one of our local severe weather
meteorologists here in Edmonton, and even had him forwarding me the
email alerts that he got everyday so that I could have some sample
data.

The problem is that I don't know if the NWS data is presented as email
alerts, or as an RSS feed, or a telnet stream, or what... I can't go
asking Environment Canada if they have a "fill-in-the-blank" weather
alert feed if I have no idea what goes in the blank.

I'm willing to attempt to work towards getting this type of feed up
and running in Canada, but I need to know which direction to start
running. I manually parsed out all of the alert areas for Alberta many
years ago in hopes that it would get the ball rolling, but it never
went any further than that.

Any information you have or could provide would be greatly appreciated.
