I see what you want to do and I like your idea.

It doesn't seem like a difficult thing to implement, but someone would have to look into it.  I'm not sure I have the time right now.  Are you willing to give it a go?  Would anyone else like to tackle this?  I'd be happy to test the changes and check them into CVS.
